Sensex trims early gains, Nifty around 8950; oil PSUs fall

10:15 am : The Sensex was up 70.13 points at 28999.26, while the Nifty was up 23.10 points at 8950.10. The market breadth was healthy, but was narrow as compared to the morning session. About 1,343 shares advanced, 674 shares declined, while 133 shares remained unchanged.

The INDIA VIX is down 3.5% at 13.9. BSE Sensex is trading at 28986 up 58 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 8942 up 16 points.

Sugar stocks are buzzing with gains in the morning hours on Friday. Mawana Sugars is trading at Rs 89.8 per share, up by 3.2%. Rajshree Sugars is trading at Rs 63.8 per share up by 3.1%. DCM Shriram Industries is trading at Rs 310 per share, up by 3.2%.

HDIL is the top gainer in the Nifty Realty index trading at Rs 72.6 per share, up by 1.9%.  There are 1041 advances, 432 declines and 444 unchanged stocks on NSE reflecting strong positive bias floating in the market.

The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.2% at 13426, while BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.5% at 13686.  Ultratech Cement, BHEL, LT, HCL Technologies and Ambuja Cements are among the gainers, whereas Power Grid, BPCL, GAIL, Hindalco and Tech Mahindra are losing sheen on NSE in the first trading hour.
