Nifty trades above 7,800-mark
At 10:52 AM, the S&P BSE Sensex is trading at 25,751 up 269 points, while NSE Nifty is trading at 7,803 up 72 points.The BSE Mid-cap Index is trading up 0.74% at 10,716, whereas BSE Small-cap Index is trading up 0.93% at 11,258.All sectors are trading green on BSE. The INDIA VIX was down 5.94% at 16.3800. Out of 1,744 stocks traded on the NSE, 331 declined and 1,077 advanced today. A total of 27 stocks registered a fresh 52-week high in trades today, while 18 stocks touched a new 52-week low on the NSE.
Vedanta, ICICI Bank, Hero MotoCorp, Tata Steel, Maruti Suzuki, Bajaj-Auto, RIL, Hindalco and HDFC are among the gainers, whereas Dr.Reddy’s Lab, Coal India, GAIL, NTPC and Wipro are losing sheen on BSE.The Indian rupee opened higher by 17 paise at 66.12/$ in early trade on Thursday. Indian rupee remained under pressure, with spot values closing around 66.30 levels against the greenback. Growing strength in US dollar is taking a toll on the emerging markets. Buoyancy in the greenback is attributed to the fact that markets are convinced about US Federal Reserve hiking interest rates in December, with Federal forward rates curve suggesting 70% probability of 25 basis points move on the rates. In the latest, minutes of the recent US FOMC meeting indicated that most of the members of Federal Reserve concur on the decision to hike interest rates in December.
Amtek Auto has jumped 4.3% to Rs. 44.90 on high volume.Dr.Reddy’s Laboratories has plunged 6% to Rs. 3,173 on BSE. The pharma company has completed the purchase of worldwide exclusive Intellectual Property Rights for Fondaparinux sodium, its generic anti-coagulant drug, from Australian partner Alchemia for $17.5 million.Shares of City Union Bank were trading higher 1% at Rs.86.70 on NSE today. Around 10 lakh shares were traded in a single block at Rs.86.10 on the NSE.
